Vidalia girls take loss in tournament

JENA, La. — Kourtney Bacle held Vidalia High School to just five hits and struck out three in a complete-game outing as the Jena High School Lady Giants defeated the Lady Vikings 12-0 in five innings Friday afternoon at the Jena Tournament.
Not only did Bacle keep Vidalia frustrated, so did Jena’s bats. Kelsey Bradford hit two home runs and finished 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. Emilee Howard belted two doubles and she also went 2-for-4. Even Kendi Malcomb and Darian Thacker got into the RBI column with three and two, respectively.
Perhaps the only surprise about this game was that Jena was the “visiting” team — in its own tournament. That did not matter, however, as the Lady Giants scored in all five innings and finished with 11 hits and they took advantage of five Lady Vikings’ errors.
Taylor Yates took the loss after giving up 10 runs, six earned, on 10 hits and one walk with no strikeouts.
Vidalia (4-7) will look to end its two-game losing streak when it takes on Avoyelles Public Charter at 9 a.m. today and against Rayville at 11 a.m. at the Jena Tournament.
