NATCHEZ — Services for Henry James “Bodyman” Reed, 69, of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Plain Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Pickett officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Reed was born Jan. 12, 1941, in Natchez, the son of Mose Reed and Beatrice Washington. Mr. Reed was employed as an auto body and fender repairman. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ayers Reed; his parents; one sister, Mary Lee “Mamie” Reed; and three great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Darese Burse and husband, Jerry Sr., of New Orleans; six grandchildren, Darenda B. Dyson and husband, Corey Sr., Jerry Jr., Jarvis, Joshua, Brittany and Danielle Burse; 13 great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Ornsby Louise Young and Julia Evans and husband, Charles, all of Natchez, Carolyn Robinson and husband, Charlie, of Atlanta, Marilyn Washington and Margie B. Williams and husband, Vernell, all of Houston, Texas, Josephine Reed of Missouri City, Mo., and André D. Williams and husband, Arthur, of Jefferson, La.; five brothers, Charles Chatman of McKinney, Texas, Willie Earl Washington of Gretna, La., Moses Washington of Racine, Wis., Walter Reed of Natchez and Clyde Reed of Houston; one uncle, Clifton Reed; three aunts, Zeola Reed, Blanche R. Pratt and Annie B. Washington; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
