NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department is investigating two business burglaries investigators say may be linked.

According to reports at the NPD, the manager of Lambuth’s Quick Lube on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive reported the glass back door to the business had been shattered and a safe had been taken Tuesday.

A moneybag from an upstairs office was also reported missing.

Wednesday, investigators responded to a complaint from East Automotive on John R. Junkin Drive that a burglar had entered the building by pushing in a window air-conditioning unit.

Filing cabinets had been rummaged through, and four blank check books and $60 in cash were missing, reports said. NPD Investigator Jerry Ford said the department had persons of interest who were being interviewed Thursday afternoon, and that the two incidents might be linked due to how the businesses were entered.

Two other auto dealerships — Natchez Ford and Performance Dodge in Ferriday — were burglarized earlier this month and in late February.  Ford said investigators were working the cases, but he did not know if the most recent burglaries were linked to the earlier ones.
