SILVER CREEK — Services for Ira Lee “Big Pop” Walton, 58, of Fayetteville, N.C., who died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Fayetteville, will be at 1 p.m. today at China Lee Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Bridges Family Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Walton was born Jan. 25, 1952, in Montrose, the son of Linton and Lillian Tatum Walton. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of 23 years with honors and 16 years with North Carolina Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie Walton Turner; and father and mother-in-law, Julius and Corene Bridges.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Genevia Bridges Walton; three daughters, Semetric Walton, Irashalee Walton and Nishi Walton, all of Fayetteville; one son, Demetric Walton and wife, Amanda, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one adopted daughter, Tasheeia Green of Fayetteville; one sister, Mattie Watson of Stafford, Va.; five brothers, Willie Walton and wife, Cassandra, of Gulfport, Linton Walton and wife, Hilda, Johnny Walton, all of North Biloxi, Alfonso Walton and wife, Bonnie, of Bay Springs and Jessie Earl Walton of Montrose; three uncles, B.J. Walton of Newark, N.J., Clinton Walton of North Biloxi and Solomon Walton of Montrose; six sisters-in-law, Ann, Mary, Willene, Narcissie, Lois and Deborah; six brothers-in-law, Roosevelt, Julius, Jerry, Sonny, Ralph and Jim; 12 grandchildren; a special family friend, Julius Williams of Fort Benning, Ga.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
