FERRIDAY — Services for Rosemary Whitley Watkins, 79, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Sklar officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Watkins was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Eva, La., the daughter of Ed and Pearlie Lewis Whitley. She was a retired teacher from Concordia Parish School Board.
Mrs. Watkins was a former member of the Concordia Parish Library Board and served as a tour guide for the Delta Museum in Ferriday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Watkins Jr. and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, James P. Watkins III and wife, Daphne, and Gregory C. Watkins and wife, Jennifer, all of Irving, Texas; two daughters, Tara Taylor and husband, Edward, of Shalimar Beach, Fla., and de’Ionne Jones and husband, William, of Las Vegas; one brother, Amos Whitley and wife, Cora, of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Abilene Whitley; one sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Robledo, both of Ferriday; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
