NATCHEZ — The Adams County Christian School soccer team had a season to remember, and the memories didn’t end there for seniors Dylan Galbreath and Justin Allgood.

After winning ACCS’ first soccer district championship, the Rebels were also able to win the South State championship and advance to the state title game in which they lost to Central Hinds High School.

But little did Galbreath and Allgood know, the stellar season wasn’t over just yet.

Galbreath and Allgood were both selected to play in the MAIS all-star soccer game last week, and represent the Rebels among 36 high-caliber players.

Allgood said he was excited to be picked as one of the best soccer players in the state.

“It was definitely an honor, it was one of the biggest privileges you can have as a player to go to a higher level of playing to play against people equal to or better than you,” Allgood said.

And Allgood said he realized the amount of talent around him as they played in the game.

“Playing in the all-star game and playing in high school is very different,” he said. “It’s filled with people who know what they’re doing and it’s playing against the best of the best.”

Galbreath said though it was a great experience, he was glad to share it with Allgood.

“That definitely made it a lot easier and a lot more fun when we got there,” Galbreath said. “It made things a lot more comfortable for me.”

Galbreath and Allgood were also accompanied by Rebel head coach Jimmy Allgood, who was selected to coach the south in the all-star game.

Jimmy Allgood said he learned a lot as a coach in his time in Jackson.

“I learned about a lot of different drills that coaches, who were one professional soccer players, do with their team and some of those I plan to implement with my own team,” Jimmy Allgood said.

Jimmy Allgood, also Justin’s dad, said he also had a chance to make memories during the game.

“One of the prize memories from the game was when we finished the game tied 2-2, I looked around for the five shooters for the shoot out, just knowing how Justin (Allgood) does, he gravitated to the back of the bus,” Jimmy Allgood said. “But knowing the years he put in to working on penalty shots, I made him step to the plate because I knew he had what it took.

“The goalie from the north stopped three of our shots. I can’t say I ever seen three stops out of five shooters, but Justin made a top left corner shot that was unstoppable and that was a memory that will live in a coach’s / dad’s mind.”

With the season officially over, Allgood is now playing baseball, tennis and golf, while Galbreath plays baseball and tennis.
