NATCHEZ — Services for Alton Earl Mosby Sr., 70, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Pickett officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.Alton Earl Mosby obit pic

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Mosby was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Natchez, the son of James M. “Jim” Mosby Sr. and Ethel L. Lewis Mosby.

He attended St. Francis High School in Natchez and graduated from the Father Bertrand High School in Memphis. He also graduated from Tennessee State University.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, received a Bronze Star Medal and was a sergeant.

He worked as a United States Postal worker in Memphis. He was a former police officer for the City of Natchez, former International Paper employee and also a former employee with the Fruit of the Loom Company in Vidalia.

He was a Mason with the St. John Lodge No. 5, member of the Elks and a member of Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.

Mr. Mosby was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Profice Mosby; one son, Alton Earl Mosby Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Topeka, Kan.; four daughters, Toiya Mosby Jones, of Abudhabi, United Arab Emirates, Erica Mosby Ciciulla and husband, Giuseppe A., of Carson, Cali., Aimmee Mosby Chestang and husband, Bennie, of Hattiesburg, and Alencia Mosby Mitchell and husband, Otha, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one brother, James M. Mosby Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Madison, mother-in-law, Georgia M. Profice, of Natchez; 10 grandchildren, four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; a special cousin, Rosie Lee Stewart, of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
