Port Gibson — Services for Q.H. “Quit” McDaniel Jr., 91, who died Friday, March 7, 2014, surrounded by his family will be at noon Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in McComb.
Mr. NcDaniel was born in Yazoo City, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Q.H. McDaniel.
He graduated from McComb City High School in 1940. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy prior to World War II. Serving in the Navy in the Pacific/Asiatic theatre, McDaniel earned a bronze star medal.
After the war, McDaniel attended the University of Mississippi’s pharmacy school and graduated in August 1949. He moved to Port Gibson in 1952 where he owned and operated McDaniel Pharmacy for 47 years.
A charter member of the Mosswood Country Club, McDaniel was instrumental in the success and longevity of the club and golf course. McDaniel, or “Mr. Mac” as he was affectionately called, was honored to have been able to work with so many wonderful people throughout the years, and he wishes to thank them along with all of his customers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 41 years, Bessie McDavid McDaniel; and wife of three years, Bennie Chatham.
Survivors include Q.H. “Bud” McDaniel III and wife, Marty, of Belle Chase; Jenny Lee and husband, Wendell, of Biloxi; Pat McDaniel and wife, Anne, of Natchez; Catherine Lowe of Covington; Robert “Bob” McDaniel and wife, Debbie, of Port Gibson; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
