MIDDLETON, Tenn. — Services for Leon Edward Clayton, 79, of Natchez, who died Friday March 7, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center will be Monday at Shackelford Funeral Home in Middleton, Tenn., with The Rev. William Kemp officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rogers Springs Church of Christ Cemetery in Middleton under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday before the funeral at Shackelford Funeral Home in Middleton.
Mr. Clayton was born on Nov. 28, 1934, at Potts Camp in Benton County, the son of Lonnie D. Clayton and Cora Virginia Owens Clayton.
Mr. Clayton graduated from Middleton High School in Middleton, Tenn. He was employed as a forrester by J.M. Jones Lumber Company in Natchez from 1958 until he retired in 2005. He loved the outdoors and especially loved tending to his cattle and fowls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Leon Edward Clayton, Jr. and Sharon Juanita Clayton, and one brother, Leo Eldon Clayton.
Mr. Clayton is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Ollie Virginia Rainey Clayton; three daughters, Ann Givens and husband Buddy of Natchez, Sherri Freeman and husband Tony of Kingston, Ark., and Serenity Clayton of Natchez; four brothers, Beottis Clayton and wife Jenece, Thurman Clayton and wife Diane, Billy Clayton and wife Geraldine, and Bobby Clayton, all of Potts Camp; one sister, Rolette Brock of Hickory Flat; two sisters in-law, Francis Clayton of Potts Camp and Margie Hogue of Milan, Tenn.; one brother in-law, Leo B. Rainey and wife Jean of Hernando; five grandchildren, Amber Rogers, Landon Givens, Abby Givens, Colton Freeman and AJ Freeman and seven great grandchildren.
