NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department is investigating a potential homicide after a Natchez resident was found dead in his East Stiers Lane home Sunday afternoon.

NPD Detective Jerry Ford said officers responded to 631 East Stiers Lane at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday after a family member of Terrance Thornburg, 20, found him dead at the house with severe trauma to the face.

Ford said Thornburg lived at the house alone, and officers are interviewing anyone who might have information about what occurred.

“We’re treating it as (a homicide) right now, because we can’t rule it out otherwise,” Ford said. “We’re following the leads we’re getting, and we hope to have something soon.”

Adams County Coroner James Lee said it was unclear what caused Thornburg’s death upon first examination, but results from the state crime lab in Jackson expected to arrive today would provide more details.
