ROXIE — Graveside services for Aubrey I. Garner, 85, of Roxie, who died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roxie City Cemetery with the Rev. Van Windom, the Rev. Tyson Windom and the Rev. Jamie Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Mr. Garner was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Crowville, La., the son of Richard L. and Ovie Tinker Garner.
He was a member of the Roxie Baptist Church.
He owned his own business, where he worked for many years as a chainsaw repairman.
He loved to fish and spent many hours fishing for white perch with his wife Jimmie. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dale Garner; two brothers, Cecil Garner and Russell Garner; and one sister, Jeanette Garner.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jimmie Mullins Garner; two sons, Willie Garner, of Roxie, and Len Garner and wife, Janet, of Roxie; one daughter, Carolyn Garner Matthews, of Roxie; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Therese Garner; and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.
