Services for Mr. Joe Newman Farley, 88, of Wisner, who died Sun. Dec. 3, 2006, at St. Francis North Monroe Hospital, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Wisner with the Rev. Thomas People and the Rev. Marion Spence officiating.
Burial will follow in the South Central Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Farley was born April 16, 1918, in Wisner. He was a resident of Wisner, retired from Kiper Hardware where he worked as a foreman of the lumber yard for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church Wisner. Mr. Farley was in WWII and served in the Army’s 82nd Airborne during the battle of the bulge.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Archie Farley; and mother, Georgia Elizabeth Newman Farley.
Survivors include wife, Fannie Calhoun Farley of Wisner; three daughters, Matt Cotten of Monroe, JoAnn Dampier and husband Jerry of Sheridan, Ark. and Elaine Thornhill and husband Leo of Winnsboro; brother, William “Bill” Archie Farley of Monroe. He was also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Haring, Glen Dampier, John Jones, Lynwood Easterling, Russell Johnson, Billy Calhoun, Stacy Calhoun and James Knight.
Honorary pallbearers are Barnabas Men’s Sunday School Class, C.L. McDonald and Eldon Brown.
