Anthony McCraney

Services for Anthony “Lucky” McCraney, 88, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be noon Wednesday at New Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Daughters Cemetery, in Wildsville, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. McCraney was born May 25, 1918, in Vidalia, the son of Robert and Amelia Williams McCraney. He was a retired school bus driver for Concordia Parish Schools. He was a service station owner. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a former member of The Money Wasters Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Clarence McCraney, John Ray McCraney, and Anthony McCraney Jr.; and daughters, Mary Collins and Amanda Jolla.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Clay McCraney of Ferriday; son, Roosevelt McCraney of Los Angeles; stepson, Russell Clay of Wildsville; daughters, Ruby R. Washington and Shirley McCraney, both of Los Angeles, Rosie Banks of Spring, Texas, Elizabeth Johnson and husband, Louis, of Ferriday, Barbara McCraney and husband, Jerry Jones, of Humble, Texas, and Delores McCraney of Compton, Calif.; brothers, Robert McCraney of Clayton and Mose Weatherspoon of Chicago; sisters, Irma Crumb and Beatrice Weatherspoon, both of Las Vegas, and Bertha Hollins of Baton Rouge; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
