NATCHEZ — Less than a half-inch of snow has fallen across the Miss-Lou this morning, but weather officials do not expect more to fall today.
“We’ve had reports of a quarter of an inch (in Adams County and Concordia Parish),” National Weather Service meteorologist Anna Weber said today at noon. “It looks like you guys are on the back edge of it.”
She said she expects snowfall and rainfall to come to an end in the early afternoon today.
Today’s high temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees before settling into a nighttime low of 25.
The following schools are closing early because of the weather:
• Delta Charter School is releasing students
• Trinity Episcopal Day School is releasing students
• Catahoula Parish School District schools will close at 1 p.m.
A traveler advisory is in effect for the Natchez Trace Parkway from mile post 100 at Jackson south to mile post 0 at Natchez. The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a winter weather advisory for accumulating snow and sleet; which is in effect until 5 p.m. today.
