NATCHEZ — Snow could again be in the forecast for Miss-Lou residents, as temperatures are expected to plummet below freezing this morning.

“Starting in the early morning, there may be (snow) flurries, a dusting of snow,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Latrice Maxie said. “By the afternoon, it will warm up some. There will be a small chance for a rain and snow mix.”

Maxie said calls for precipitation this evening should come in the form of rain.

Today’s morning low is expected to dip to 25, with a high of 38 forecast later in the day.

“Right now, we are not anticipating anything sticking (to the ground), but there could be some accumulation, which would just be about a quarter of an inch,” Maxie said.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and county emergency managers will monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.

Following the expected winter weather, chances of rain will increase throughout Friday and will continue into the evening.

The NWS forecast a 50 percent chain of rain Friday night, with a low around 33.

Temperatures are expected to remain chilly throughout the day Saturday with rain dissipating Saturday night.
