Services for Rosa Lee “Sister” Smith, 78, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.

Burial will follow at Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Smith was born April 5, 1928, in Vidalia, the daughter of Olza and Rosie Boyd Cathern.

She was a retired food service technician for Concordia Parish School System and served as a deaconess at Union Baptist Church.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Auguster Cathern; one son, Henry Marshall; one daughter, Willie Ruth Smith; one brother, Samuel Cathern.

Survivors include one son, James Smith and his wife, Brenda of Natchez; six daughters, Ollie Washington and her husband, Huey of Missouri City, Texas, Rosie Lee Matchett, Pearl Long and her husband, George, Leatrice Dickens and her husband, Reginald and Mary Smith, all of Vidalia and Jacqueline Smith of Fresno, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
