ALEXANDRIA, La. — Karlee Woodruff scored a game-high 20 points for Monterey High School, but it was not enough as the Lady Wolves lost to the Grace Christian School Lady Warriors 40-38 Monday night in an LHSA District 6-B game.
Monterey got off to a good start, especially on the defensive end. The Lady Wolves held Grace Christian to just four points in the first quarter while putting up 10 points themselves. The second quarter was much closer, but the Lady Wolves managed to outscore the Lady Warriors 12-11 for a 22-15 halftime lead.
But for all the good things Monterey did in the first half, it was not able to keep it going in the second half. That was never more evident than the third quarter as the Lady Wolves scored just six points while Grace Christian had 12 points to make it a 28-27 game. The Lady Warriors completed their stunning comeback by outscoring the Lady Wolves 13-10 in the fourth quarter.
Kirsten Willis led Grace Christian with 15 points while Megan Duffy had seven points and both Mallory Duffy and Hailey Teal had six points. Carli Scott added six points and Morgan Pecanty had five points for the Lady Wolves.
