The snow that fell on the Miss-Lou last week has melted, but it left behind memories for years to come.

And the cold temperatures didn’t stop residents from doing great things in our community.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights:

-Jan Byrne recently received the 2013 Rose Award from the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators. Byrne is the education lab manager at Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Natchez campus and an educator who always tries to make a difference in the lives of her students. We congratulate Byrne on receiving the award.

-The Natchez First Assembly of God Food Pantry makes certain to serve up each box of food with a side of prayer to needy Miss-Lou residents. The pantry, which is in its 12th year, serves a box of food and prayers to anyone meeting low-income standards. We thank the volunteers who make this effort possible.

-Cathedral High School Junior Deanna Hayden felt right at home sitting behind the Adams County Board of Supervisors’ board table. Hayden is a part of Youth Leadership Natchez and recently toured a variety of local government offices, which helped her envision her potential future in public office. We wish Hayden the best on her journey to a position in local government.
