Prep basketball roundups: ACCS girls win in low-scoring game

RAYMOND — The Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels (20-4) came away with the win Friday night as they defeated Central Hinds Academy, 43-32.
Tori Laird sparked the Lady Rebels with 13 points, as Skylar Adams and McKenzie Boyd added eight points each.
Mary Beth Hale scored a game-high 18 points for Central Hinds and Kayla Kellam followed with 11 points in the effort.
ACCS took a commanding lead in the first half, outscoring the Lady Cougars 12-5 in the first quarter and 14-4 in the second quarter to go ahead 26-9.
Though Central Hinds was able to put together a 16-5 run in the third quarter, it wasn’t enough to overcome ACCS’ 17-point lead and a strong fourth quarter performance.
The Lady Rebels outscored Central Hinds 12-7 in the final quarter to take the 43-32 win.
The Lady Rebels improved to 6-1 in district and will play Centreville Academy at 6 p.m. Tuesday,
Jefferson County 75 girls, Wilkinson County 64
FAYETTE — The Jefferson County High School Lady Tigers fought back from a rough first quarter to defeat Wilkinson County High School 75-64.
Jefferson County saw four players in double figures with Kailyn Hammett leading the way with 17 points. Dionna Jackson had 14 points, Antrell Gales scored 13 points, and Diamond Gaines added 10 points.
Lineasia Palmer led the Lady Wildcats (1-3) with 22 points while Ambernekia Palmer and Erielle Jackson both tallied 12 points each.
The Lady Tigers (2-2) found themselves down 20-8 early in the game, but managed to outscore Wilkinson County 21-9 in the second quarter to go into the locker room tied 29-29. The score stayed tied in the third quarter before Jefferson County put together a solid fourth quarter to close out the Lady Wildcats 75-64.
The Lady Tigers play against Franklin County High School at 6 p.m. Tuesday while Wilkinson County heads to Wesson High School Tuesday.
Jefferson County boys 66, Wilkinson County boys 58
FAYETTE — The Jefferson County High School Tigers held on for the win against Wilkinson County High School in a 66-58 victory Friday night.
The Tigers (8-8) were led by Ry’Yale Brown, who scored 26 points while Jadarrius Harried tallied 16 points and Christian Day added 14 points.
Devin Voorhies led the Wildcats with 17 points while JaQuorias Stewart added 10 points.
Jefferson County kept the lead the entire game, outscoring the Wildcats 17-11 in the first quarter, 17-16 in the second and 19-7 in the third quarter.
The fourth quarter, however, was powered by Wilkinson County as it went on a 23-14 run, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead against the Tigers as they fell 66-58.
Jefferson County returns to action against Franklin County High School at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and Wilkinson County plays Wesson High School Tuesday.
