Local games postponed

NATCHEZ — Snow flurries that hit the Miss-Lou Thursday night and brought about an inch of snow forced several sporting events that were scheduled Friday to be either postponed or canceled.
Natchez High School’s basketball games at MHSAA Division 6-5A opponent Pearl River Central High School in Carriere were postponed because of the inclement weather. Lady Bulldogs head coach Alphaka Moore said the games have been rescheduled for Feb. 1, beginning at 3 p.m.
Vidalia High School’s basketball games at LHSAA District 3-3A rival Jena High School were postponed. Lady Vikings head coach Fred Marsalis said the games are tentatively rescheduled for today, starting with the B-team game at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity girls’ game at 5 p.m. and the varsity boys’ game at 6:30 p.m.
Ferriday High School’s home varsity games against LHSAA District 2-2A opponent Jonesboro-Hodge were also postponed. Lady Trojans head coach Lisa Abron said those games will now take place on Feb. 5, beginning at 5 p.m.
Franklin County’s varsity soccer teams were scheduled to host McLaurin High School for senior night, but head coach Jeff Long said those games have been canceled. He also said a possible rescheduling of the games for today is up in the air.
Franklin County’s basketball games at MHSAA Division 7-3A foe Hazlehurst have also been postponed. Head coach Ricky O’Quinn was still waiting to hear back from Hazlehurst as to when they will be rescheduled as of Friday.
