Waste Management has suspend residential and commercial garbage collection services in the Natchez area today because of winter weather conditions.
This includes Adams County, Concordia Parish, Franklin County, the Town of Gloster and Wilkinson County.
All regularly-scheduled Friday collection routes will be collected Saturday. All Saturday collection customers will also be serviced on their regularly scheduled service day.
Plantation Oaks Landfill will remain open today for its normal business hours and will be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Waste Management is in frequent communication with local officials and have informed them of our plans to temporarily stop collection services, due to icy road conditions,” said Andy Yates, district manager for Waste Management of Natchez. “We have suspended all Waste Management Friday collection service as an added safety precaution and thank our valued customers for their patience and cooperation.”
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is currently placing de-icing material on state maintained bridges and roadways in Adams, Amite, Franklin, Lincoln, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson counties.
MDOT will continue to monitor roadway conditions throughout the state and advises motorists to limit travel during these hazardous conditions.
