Mrs. Gousset was born Feb. 14, 1950, in Ferriday, the daughter of James Metcalf and Mary Metcalf.

She graduated from Sicily Island High School, Co-Lin and University of Southern Mississippi. She taught fifth grade for four years at ACCS, four years in the Tensas Parish School System and 10 years in the Concordia Parish School System.

She touched many children’s lives and truly enjoyed her students and made learning a fun experience. She had an unusual sense of humor and made us all laugh and sometimes shocked us.

She loved her son, Kirk, students, canned Coke, friends, Ole Miss and last, but not least, her cats, Chipper, Dotsy Ruth, Parker and CAB. We all have a story about her and most them are funny.

She was a member of Sunnyside Church near Sicily Island.

Mrs. Gousset was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Shorty Metcalf.

Survivors include one son, Kirk Cavin, of Pearland, Texas, and a number of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be D.D. Sumerall, Butch Cavin, Joel Guyer, David King, Leigh King and Dusty Butler.

Honorary pallbearer was Casey Young.
