LAUREL — Adams County Christian School head soccer coach Jimmy Allgood said it was a tough loss to take as the Rebels fell to Laurel Christian Academy 3-1 in the district match.

The first half went well for the Rebels (11-2), as they came out with energy and managed to stay neck and neck with the Lions. Dillon Galbreath scored for ACCS at the 31st minute to tie the game at 1-1 before halftime, but unfortunately, that was all of the offense they could generate.

Allgood said the Rebels shot themselves in the foot during the second half as they let the game slip away from them.

“In the first half. we fought back and gave effort,” Allgood said. “In the second half, a few miscues with a foul on the box led to a penalty kick goal and then we gave away another goal.”

Allgood said their main problem was not being aggressive enough on the offensive end.

“We didn’t take enough shots on goal when we had multiple opportunities and I think that also helped take away from scoring opportunities,” he said.

The Rebels still have plenty of soccer to be played, and Allgood said they must pick their heads up before their game against River Oaks Academy Monday.

“We’ve got to take this and move forward and play a much stronger midfield in the weeks to come going into the playoffs,” Allgood said.

The Rebels play River Oaks at 11 a.m. Monday.
