Services for Berry “Hammer” Coulston Sr., of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Promise Rehabilitation Hospital, in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Matthews Baptist Church Cemetery, in Garden City, Miss., under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Coulston was the son of Sam and Celia Coulston. He was retired from Forest Products as a truck driver. He was a member of Bright Morning Star Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, William Earl Coulston, Willie Coulston Sr. and Sam Coulston Jr.; sister, Mary Ruth Hammond; and grandson, DeShon Coulston.
Survivors include his wife, Estella Coulston of Natchez; children, Celice Coulston of Jackson, Brenda Parker and husband, Charles, of Natchez, Debra Coulston and Lionell Coulston, both of Chicago, and Berry Coulston Jr. of Houston; mother, Celia Coulston of Natchez; a brother, Leroy Coulston of Natchez; sisters, Helen Anderson of Houston, Adeline Chatman and Henrietta Dobbins, both of Natchez; six grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Coulston, Annie Alexander, and Verline Morrison Coulston, all of Natchez, Christine Thomas and husband, James C., of Roxie and Carrie Bell Alexander of Garden City, Miss.; brother-in-law, Frank Chatman Sr. of Natchez; aunts-in-law, Annie Lee Stewart of Natchez and Johnnie B. Stewart of Detroit; goddaughter, Jasmine Coulston of Natchez; special granddaughter, Kamaria Parker; special niece, Virginia Coulston Phipps; special cousin, Essie Rouse of Chicago; a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Alexander, Gary Alexander, Willie D. Alexander, Larry Dobbins, Bernard Chatman and Patrick Conner.
