NATCHEZ — The Krewe of Natchez Indians will celebrate the Mardi Gras season with its annual ball at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Convention Center.

The theme is “rhythm of the night.” Admission is through invitation only; invitations can be obtained through any krewe member.

The krewe’s annual parade will be 6 p.m., Feb. 21 in downtown Natchez.

King Terry Woodside

Terry Woodside, a native of Centreville, started Shipe’s Scrap Metals LLC, in New Orleans in 2003. After Hurricane Katrina the business grew to a level previously unimaginable.

He was able to expand and bring jobs back to the community, which resulted in bringing more revenue to the surrounding businesses. He has since opened new sites including Woodside Enterprise Inc. in Liberty and B&C Auto Wreckers in St. Rose, La.

Woodside Enterprise encompasses processing of industrial scrap, commercial demolition, residential demolition and mobile scrap collection. His business employs approximately 57 people in Louisiana and Mississippi and continues to grow. He has earned the name “The King of Scrap.”

Woodside is committed to environmental sustainability. He recognizes the importance of protecting local natural resources. With the support of his customers, recycling reduces the need for mining, lowers production costs for metal manufacturers and helps deliver quality metal products throughout the world. This is all part of his strategic approach to intelligent resource management and re-use. His desire is to build and grow an environmentally friendly corporation and help others along the way.

Queen Jacqueline Monee Cameron

Jacqueline Monee Cameron was born March 22, 1983, in Natchez. She is the daughter of previous Krewe of Natchez Indians King and Queen II Robert and Jacqueline McNeely. She is the sister of Lekeshia Jones.

She is married to Douglas Cameron Jr. from Magnolia and is the mother of two sons, Tristin Cameron and Jordan Cameron. She is a 2001 graduate of Natchez High School. She received an associate’s degree from Hinds Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University.

Cameron currently lives in Rosenberg, Texas. She works for Department of Family Protective Services as a childcare licensing inspector. She attends Graeber Road Church of Christ. She is a member of the Omega Tau Pi Sorority Incorporated, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority and Sounds of Dyn-O-mite Alumni Band Booster Club. She was a cheerleader at Morgantown Elementary School, a majorette at Natchez Middle School, a dancer for the amazing Natchez High School Lady Blues and a dancer for the Alcorn State University Golden Girls.

Cameron enjoys spending time with her family, dancing, bowling, traveling, community service projects and shopping.

Duchess Shuwanda Phipps Ford

Shuwanda Phipps Ford is the daughter of Georgia and Raiford Granger and the late Herman B. Smith Jr.

She is married to Jerry Ford and together they have five children, Kimberly, Jerrica, Trevon, Cortez and Kiana. They also have three grandchildren, Kiari, Johntrell and Clarence Jr.

Ford is currently employed as a recruiting coordinator for Kelly’s Kids. She received her bachelor of science in business administration from Alcorn State University and is currently pursuing a masters in business administration. She is the founder of the Mentor Me Program and captain of the Kelly’s Kids Relay for Life Team.

She attends Smithland Baptist Church where she sings in the choir and is a member of the Pastor Aid and Willing Workers club. Her hobbies are spending time with family, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, traveling, shopping and reading.

Duke Jerry L. Ford

Jerry L. Ford is the son of the Rev. Ernest and Mary Ford Sr.

He is married to Shuwanda Phipps Ford and together they have five children, Kimberly, Jerrica, Trevon, Cortez and Kiana. They also have three grandchildren, Kiari, Johntrell and Clarence Jr.

Ford is currently employed with the City of Natchez Police Department as a detective and public relations representative.

He is pursuing a masters in guidance education from Alcorn State University.

He is vice president of the Krewe of Natchez Indians, vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 4 and chairman of the Crime Stoppers Board.

Ford attends Smithland Baptist Church where he serves on the deacon board. He is also a member of the Pastor Aid and Willing Workers Club.

His hobbies are spending time with family, watching football, hunting and traveling.

Jennifer Marie Davis Prater

Jennifer Marie Davis Prater is a native of Natchez. She is the daughter of the late Jeff Turner and Julia L. Davis.

She was the wife of the late Raydell Anthony Prater and is the mother of Raylin Amari Prater.

She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she sings with the adult choir.

Prater is an original Ram graduating from the last class of North Natchez High School in 1989. Upon graduating she attended Alcorn State University receiving a Bachelor of Science in business administration.

She is employed by Holy Family Early Learning Center as the administrative assistant and bookkeeper.

She is also employed by Belk Department Store. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends and shopping.

Her philosophy of life is: “Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trust you.”
