Franklin Co. boys, girls soccer grab wins

HATTIESBURG — Hoby Mullins scored all four goals for the Franklin County Bulldogs and he did so in four different ways as they defeated the Hattiesburg Tigers 4-1 Monday night.

Mullins scored on a penalty kick, a free kick, an unassisted goal, and a goal with an assist from Kemo Verdin. Kemo’s brother and Bulldogs goalkeeper Nathaniel Verdin had nine saves and gave up just one goal — which is now only the fourth goal scored on the Bulldogs this season.

Franklin County (15-0) returns to MHSAA Region 6-1A/2A/3A action today at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Loyd Star.

Franklin County girls 2, Hattiesburg 1

HATTIESBURG — The Franklin County Lady Bulldogs got two goals from Si’Edriq Middleton with assists on both goals by Krisyln Kent as they hung on for a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Hattiesburg Lady Tigers Monday night.

Lady Bulldogs goalkeeper Macy Zisken preserved the one-goal win and their undefeated season with seven big saves.

Franklin County (15-0) hosts Loyd Star in an MHSAA Region 6-1A/2A/3A game at 6 p.m. today.
