OCEAN SPRINGS — Funeral services for John Howard Magee, 77, of Ocean Springs, who died Thursday. Jan. 9, 2014, will be at noon Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.
Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs all under the direction of Southern Mississippi Funeral Services of Ocean Springs.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Mr. Magee was born John Wesley and Bertia Magee. He had a deep love of sports that enveloped him. He entered college on a basketball scholarship and was offered entry into the PGA Golf Tour. Upon retirement from the shipyard, Mr. Magee served the Sunkist Golf Course as manager. Until a few months ago, he worked for Mississippi National and Great Southern Golf Courses. Mr. Magee was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and was a Third Degree member of the McLeod Masonic Lodge, No. 424 in Ocean Springs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Vaillencourt.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Magee; one son, Jonathan Howard Magee and wife, Shelly; two daughters, Kim Renee’ Magee and Rachel Rushing and husband, Clint; two sisters, Lola Nebel and Julia Waldrop and husband, Robert; six grandchildren, Shannon Magee-Hackney, Jamie Magee-Richards, Mariah Rushing-Griffin, Erica Rushing, Gahrett Rushing and Kristine Roberts; one great-grandchild; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-love, Helen White and Tracy Roberts.
