Services for Katherine Louise Holmes, 78, of Ferriday, who died Feb. 23, 2007, in Ferriday, will be 2 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Glenn and Dr. Ralph Webber officiating .

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Holmes was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Sicily Island, La., the daughter of Leonard and Bernice Hamilton. She lived in Columbia for the past 25 years, but was formerly of Natchez, where she owned and operated a retail grocery store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sicily Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie Holmes; a brother, Clyde Hamilton; and a grandson, Joseph Higgins.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Higgins and wife, Pam, of Vidalia; daughter, Margarette Kenney and husband, Bruce, of Columbia, La.; brother, Lamon Hamilton of Dry Prong, La.; sister, Leona Gardner of Columbia, La.; five grandchildren, Michelle Moreton, Spencer Kenney, Jim Higgins, Miranda H. Thibodeaux and Natalie H. Creel; six great-grandchildren, Tommy Moreton, Gabrielle Moreton, Micah Higgins, Luke Higgins, Phoenix Creel and Katherine Kenney.

Pallbearers will be Jim Higgins, Ryan Thibodeaux, Roy Gardner, Tate Creel, Gerald Donald and Tommy Moreton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Pecanty, Freeman Hoob and Gabrielle Moreton.
