Services for Roy Townsend, 48, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.

Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Townsend was born Jan. 16, 1959, in Ferriday, the son of Samuel and Jessie Piercefield Townsend. He was a machine operator for J. M. Jones Lumber Company.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Jessie Townsend; a son, Bryan White and wife, Linda, of Vidalia; brothers, Sammy Townsend and wife, Barbara, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Fred Lewis of New Orleans; sisters, Theresa Lewis of Houma, La. and Lilly M. Townsend; five grandchildren; aunt, Ethel Townsend of Ferriday; special cousin, Lucy Brown of Ferriday; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
