Services for Janie McDonald, 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Free Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. John Scott Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. McDonald was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Woodville. She was raised by Steve and Martha Bethley. She was a cook with Head Start. She was a Baptist and had served as an usher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur McDonald Sr.; and son, Arthur McDonald Jr.

Survivors include her children, Bertha L. McDonald, Mollie Rebecca Long and Martha Griffin and husband, Alvin, all of Natchez, Johnny Lee McDonald of New Orleans, Fred Louis McDonald of Jackson, Shirley Mae Wells and husband, Henry, of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Ike McDonald of Woodville; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; special friend, Addis Louise McMorris of Woodville; goddaughter, Deloris T. Irving of Natchez; a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
