Brittney Lohmiller / The Natchez Democrat — The crew of “Get On Up,” the James Brown biopic directed by Tate Taylor, sets up lighting gear and arranges extras outside of the Malt Shop at the intersection of Homochitto Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Street Thursday night.

Ben Hillyer / The Natchez Democrat — Actors and extras rehearse a 1954 scene in a warehouse on Brenham Avenue that was turned into a bar Friday night. The scene included Little Richard singing “Tutti Frutti” and extras dancing to rock-and-roll music inside and outside the bar. Crews will be leaving town for Christmas and will travel to Jackson in January to film concert scenes and other footage for the film.
