George Peacock Sr.

Services for George Eugene Peacock Sr., 87, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. today at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Peacock was born April 2, 1919, in Bude, the son of William Eugene and Nettie Mae Souleret Peacock. He was a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. Mr. Peacock was retired from Johns-Mansville Corporation after 36 years. He was a U.S. Army Airforce Veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marion Woolfolk, Willie Mae Dunham and Lillie Vee Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Groves Peacock of Natchez; sons, George E. Peacock Jr. of Austin, Texas and Robert M. “Bobby” Peacock of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Susan Peacock Bellan of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, Chris Peacock, Susan Johnson, Richard Peacock, Phillip Bellan, Wesley Bellan, Mitchell Bellan, Joshua Bellan and Emma Bellan; a great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Schrock, Al Lanehart, Dempse McMullen, Mike Bellan, Bill Bellan, and John Anders.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Barry Tillman, Dr. John O’Brien and retired employees of Johns-Mansville Corporation.
