NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents will get another weekend chock full of Christmas events as the holiday gets closer and closer.

But showers and thunderstorms forecast for a majority of Friday and Saturday might leave indoor events as the best options.

Jeweled Christmas

The Towers will continue hosting its annual Jeweled Christmas display through Jan. 4.

Thousands of pieces of vintage costume jewelry ranging from 1880 to 1950 will be on display throughout the Natchez grand mansion, Towers owner Ginger Hyland said.

“I started collecting the jewelry when I lived in California, and I did the first Jeweled Christmas in 1998,” Hyland said. “I think it makes people smile and go, ‘Ohh and ahh,’ but it makes them feel like Christmas is here.”

Tours begin promptly at 4 p.m. today, 2 and 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m., 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Tours will be closed Dec. 25, 31 and Jan. 1.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 8 to 12.

The Towers will also host a special Christmas candlelight tour from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The tour includes refreshments and live music.

Tickets to that tour are $35 per person with advanced reservation required.

Natchez High School Concert

Natchez High School will host a Christmas concert at 6:30 p.m. today in the school’s auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

Holiday concert at Eola

Several of the best local choirs will perform in the lobby of the Eola Hotel at 5:30 p.m. today.

The event is free and open to the public.

Castle Christmas

The Castle Restaurant and Pub will host its annual Christmas celebration from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today.

Several food stations designed around the Castle’s favorites with a martini, beer and win station included in the ticket price.

Tickets are $45 per person.

Local live music will provide entertainment for the evening.

Cocktail attire is required.

Antebellum home Christmas events

Several antebellum homes in Natchez are hosting Christmas events this weekend.

4The Natchez Bed & Breakfast Association will host the Natchez Bed & Breakfast Christmas Tour from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Participating B&Bs include Dunleith Historic Inn, Magnolia Cottage and the Bisland House.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 6 through 12.

4The Burn will host a champagne and candlelight tour at 6 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $25 per person.

4Linden will host, “Libations at Linden” at 10 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20 per person.

4Twin Oaks will host a holiday tea event with champagne cocktails at 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $35 per person.

Natchez Little Theatre

The Natchez Little Theatre presents “A Natchez Christmas Carol” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

The production is peppered with popular Christmas tunes.

Performance tickets for non-members of NLT are $15. The box office will open an hour prior to each performance, and reservations are recommended.

Kitten adoption day

The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will host a kitten adoption day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Natchez Mall theater entrance.

The price of adopting an animal — $35 for two kittens and $25 for one kitten — incudes spaying and neutering costs.

Caroling at the library

Residents are invited for caroling at the Judge Armstrong Library at 220 S. Commerce St. in Natchez from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The event is free and open to the public and includes Christmas caroling by students of Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis.
