JOSHUA, TEXAS — Funeral services for Scott Michael Fair, 34, of Grandview, Texas, who died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at The Huguley Hospice House in Burleson, Texas will be at 1 p.m. today at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, Texas with the Rev. Barry Pritchard and the Rev. David Fair officiating.

Burial will follow in Burleson City Cemetery under the direction of Mountain Valley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. today until service time at the funeral home.

Fair was born April 9, 1979, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of James “Rusty” and Alana “Kay” Fair.

Fair grew up in Burleson, where he lived until he graduated from Burleson High School in 1998. He attended Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas, where he meet his cowgirl, Kim. His love for Kim moved him to her hometown, Natchez, where he became an EMT. They returned to Texas where they were married and Fair worked for Med Star on the ambulance and also as a dispatcher. He also worked for Forest Hills Police Department as a dispatcher before he found his real occupational calling in 2004, a conductor with the BNSF Railroad. Scott was so privileged to meet so many close friends at BNSF and worked there until his illness in 2011.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, raising cattle, flying with his brother, Bryan, and always had some kind of story to tell. He was always up for a good opinionated debate. Most of all, he loved his wife and two children more than anything. His greatest joy was watching Wyatt and Lacy Hart in their sporting events and encouraging them to take on new challenges. His jokes and laughter will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his parents; loving wife of 13 years, Kimberly “Kim” Suzanne Whittington Fair; two children, Wyatt Remington and Lacy Hart Fair; brother, Bryan Fair and wife, Paula; paternal grandparents, Carl and Nina Fair; maternal grandmother, Mary Cowen; mother-in-law, Mary Hart Parker Whittington; sister-in-law, Tye Whittington Murray an husband, Raymond; one nephew, Parker Kole Murray; life long family friends, Mark, Della and Buck Grote; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Todd Burger, Zachary Thompson, Buck Grote, Raymond Murray, Tom Roden and Tim Kennedy.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Scott’s caregivers, Dr. James Harvey, Dr. Bruce Mickey, Mike Levey, PA and Calli Fanous, NP at UTSW Dallas, and Bob Drapiza, RN with CHOT Hospice for their loving health care. The entire community of Grandview, Texas, including First Baptist Church, Chambers Creek Church, the teachers of Grandview Elementary and The Beaumont Ranch Family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made at the Grandview Bank, “Kim Fair — Benefit Account for Scott M. Fair,” or the CHOT — Community Hospice of Texas-Johnson County.
