Parnham resigns as Vidalia High School head football coach

VIDALIA — Vidalia High School head football coach Gary Parnham Jr. confirmed in a text message Sunday he resigned as head football coach Friday.
Parnham compiled a 5-35 record in four seasons of coaching the Vikings. This year’s team finished 2-8 overall. He declined to comment on the matter further.
Concordia Parish School Board Superintendent Paul Nelson said he was aware of Parnham’s decision Friday and would release a statement today. He also confirmed that Parnham would still serve as head coach of Vidalia’s softball team this spring.
Vidalia High School principal Rick Brown did not respond to a message seeking comment.
