Services for Theo M. Rabb, 87, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Revs. Ray Owens and Travis Fulton officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Rabb was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Parhams, the son of Ivy and Alice Rabb. He was a resident of Ferriday. He was retired from Chevron Oil Company and Brakenridge Furniture Company. Mr. Rabb served on the Concordia Parish Police Jury for 16 years and served two terms as alderman for the Town of Ferriday. He was a member of the Sevier United Methodist Church and a graduate of Ferriday High School in 1937. Mr. Rabb proudly served his country with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He enlisted in December of 1941 and was stationed aboard the destroyer-mine layer USS Preble as a Machinist Mate First Class. He fought in the Battles of the Midway, of Palau and the Invasion of the Philippines. The USS Preble was credited with sinking eight Japanese ships during World War II. He was discharged from the Navy in September of 1945 and returned to Ferriday. On Feb. 24, 1946 he married Jean Galloway, they had three sons and have lived in Ferriday since that time.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Rabb; his parents; and sisters, Clara Adams and Ruby Irvin.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean Galloway Rabb of Ferriday; his sons, Morris Rabb and wife, Mary, of West Monroe and Mike Rabb and wife, Mary, of Ferriday; grandchildren, Jeffrey Rabb and wife, Ginger, John Rabb and wife, Dee, Stewart Rabb, Rebecca Harrison and husband, Stan, Michael Rabb Jr. and wife, Lauren, and Mark Galloway Rabb Jr.; great-grandchildren, Caroline, John Maverick and Scarlett Rabb, Hunter, Bruin and Kenner Harrison.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Jeffrey, John, Stewart and Michael Rabb Jr., and Jack “Buddy” Adams Jr., Joe Irvin and Charles Brakenridge.
