Margaret Hafner Rogers

NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Margaret Hafner Rogers, 89, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nance Hixon officiating.
Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Rogers was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Amory, the daughter of Hubert Hafner and Margaret Louise Clayton Hafner.
Mrs. Rogers graduated from Mississippi State College for Women, now Mississippi University for Women, in 1946 and came to Natchez in 1947, where she met and married Earl Rogers Jr. on June 12, 1948. She went to work at the Department of Human Services in the welfare department and retired in 1986. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Colonial Dames, Pilgrimage Garden Club and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents; older brother, Huburt; an infant son, Robert Zan; and one granddaughter, Jessica A. Council.
Survivors include two sons, Earl D. Rogers III and Kenneth H. Rogers and his wife, Kathy, all of Natchez; two grandchildren, Brandy Rogers of Natchez and Adam Rogers and wife, Danielle, of Greer, S.C.; six great-grandchildren, Sean, Elyssa, Cameron and Vala Rogers of Greer, S.C., Aiden and Jessica M. Council and their father, Clint, all of Travelers Rest, S.C.; and one brother, James Robert Hafner and wife, Barbara of Dallas.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Rogers’ caregivers, Sandra Bailey, Mary Nell Dixon and Missy Gilliat.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
