Ameal Evans

NATCHEZ — Services for Ameal “Lil Drag” Evans, 60, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Windy Hill Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Robert Minor officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Evans was born July 9, 1946, in Natchez, the son of Katie Evans. He was a truck driver for L. J. Denny and Sons Trucking Company. He was a member of Windy Hill Baptist Church No.1 where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of Fleming Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and boxing.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his wife, Hazel Evans; and brother, Phillip “Drag” Williams Sr.

Survivors include his son, Christopher Mazique; devoted fiance’, Linda R. Elmore; stepsons, Richard Mazique and wife, Ina, of Germany, and Willie Mazique of Natchez; stepdaughters, Carmenletha Mazique, Orelia Magaka, and Violete Prater and husband, Elvis, all of Natchez; brother, Horace Evans of Jackson; sister, Camille Evans of Natchez; uncles, Otis Evans of Chester, Pa. and Hewitt Evans and wife, Dina, of Natchez; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Bland, Rufus Elmore, Tony Byrd, Phillip Williams Jr., Ronnie Elmore, and Alonzo Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Mazique, Smith Evans, Dustin Mazique, Emeal Smith, Willie Mazique, and Dominique Mazique.
