KIRBY— Funeral services for Ornsby Jenkins Jr., 56, of Moultrie, Ga., formerly of Roxie, who died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, in Moultrie, will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Watkins Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Springhill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, in Roxie, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Jenkins was born on June 24, 1957, in Roxie, the son of Ornsby Jenkins Sr. and Carrie Jenkins.
Jenkins graduated from Franklin County High School in 1976 and attended Prentiss Junior College in Prentiss. He was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost at Christ Temple of the Apostolic Faith Church in Bude.
Later in life, he became a member of the House of Refuge church in Roxie. He and his family moved to Moultrie in 2005 and became members of Flame of Praise Pentecostal church in Moultrie.
Jenkins was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Danielle Nicole Jenkins; two brothers, Ornsby Earl Jenkins and Randolph Jenkins; and two sisters, Jessie Lynn Jenkins-Bates and Catherine Jenkins-Hunt.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Delores Johnson Jenkins; four sons, Jason Jenkins, of St. Paul, Minn., Shomari Jenkins, of Natchez, Desmond Jenkin, of Tampa, Fla. and Micheal Jenkins, of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Tonya Jenkins, of Hattiesburg, Tora Jenkins, of Tampa, and Denise Jenkins, of Roxie; step-daughter, Shawonia Dyer-Milton, of Hammond, La., three honorary sons, Jamal Davis, Terrance Anderson and Glenn Strickland, all of Georgia; two brothers, Jerry Jenkins and Marshall Jenkins, both of New Orleans; two sisters, Emma Jenkins, of Roxie, and Jean Riggs, of Baton Rouge; parents-in-law, Joe and Regina Johnson, of Roxie; brothers-in-law, Joe Johnson Jr. and wife, Lisa, Carl Johnson and wife, Melody, and Travis Johnson and wife, Islen; sister-in-laws, Brenda Dillon and husband, Eric, Rose Breakfield and husband, Terrell, and Cynthia Dogan; four grandchildren, Shomari Jenkins Jr., Shakell Jenkins, Sha’Miyah Jenkins and Serenity Jenkins; special friend, Roosevelt Rogers; and a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
