NATCHEZ — Lester Wells scored four goals, two in each half, and Zach Pintard had eight saves as the Adams County Christian School Rebels defeated the Central Private School Rebels 7-2 on a cold, blustery Saturday afternoon.
With the temperature in the 40s and a stiff north wind, conditions weren’t exactly ideal for a soccer match. But it didn’t seem to affect ACCS very much. Head coach Jimmy Allgood said his team played much better than it did in a season-opening 3-1 win at Veritas School.
“My guys played a full 80-minute soccer contest. The passing, trapping, communication — everything showed up today,” Allgood said. “I was very proud of the performance of the whole team today. In less-than-favorable conditions, it was a very amazing contest that was played today by our guys.”
Wells scored at the 7th, 36th, 56th and 72nd minute. ACCS also got goals from Dylan Galbreath (14th minute), Justin Allgood (29th minute) and Parker Rymer (61st minute). Central Private scored the final goal of the first half to trail 4-1 as well as the final goal of the match at the 74th minute.
“Zach Pintard stopped eight shots on goal and allowed two to slip by,” Allgood said. “We took 24 shots on goal today, finding paydirt seven times.”
ACCS (2-0) will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Brookhaven Academy.
