Four score double figures for ACCS girls in win

NATCHEZ — Tory Laird led Adams County Christian School with a game-high 17 points as the Lady Rebels steamrolled past the Cenla Christian Academy Lady Lions 73-12 Thursday night.
The game was over not long after the opening tip. ACCS dominated Cenla Christian on both ends of the court en route to a 28-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the Lady Rebels had a commanding 46-9 advantage.
The fourth quarter was reminiscent of the first two quarters as the Lady Rebels scored 20 points, while the Lady Lions’ only point came at the free-throw line. Bailey Boyd, Ashleigh Williams and Maggie Ray each had 10 points for the Lady Rebels.
ACCS (7-1) takes on Hillcrest Christian School at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Hillcrest Tournament.
Jefferson County 50, Florence 28
PRENTISS — Diamond Smith scored a game-high 20 points as the Jefferson County Lady Tigers defeated the Florence Lady Eagles 50-28 Thursday night at the Prentiss High School Tournament.
In the first half, neither team was able to get a big advantage on its opponent. At the end of the first quarter, Jefferson County led 11-10. When halftime arrived, the Lady Tigers had a 20-18 lead.
The second half was just the opposite mainly because the Lady Tigers played even better defense. They outscored the Lady Eagles 16-6 in the third quarter and 14-4 in the fourth quarter. Dionna Jackson scored 11 points and Rachel Shelvy added 10 points for the Lady Tigers.
Jefferson County (2-1) next plays at 6 p.m. today at Port Gibson.
