NATCHEZ — Brandon Brooks scored 16 points and made the game-winning shot with just 5.4 seconds left as the Adams County Christian School Rebels defeated the Cenla Christian Academy Lions 71-69 Thursday night.
After Cenla Christian had tied the game at 69-69 with about 20 seconds left, ACCS made the most of its last opportunity to pull out the win in the back-and-forth game.
“We got in a full-out set. I figured they were going to play behind Brooks,” Rebels head coach Richy Spears said. “We got the ball to him. He made a move to the basket and scored. They threw it out of bounds as time expired.”
Chris Guedon scored 15 points and Lester Wells added 12 points for ACCS, which won despite a 27-point performance by the Lions’ Tyris Price.
ACCS (4-0) plays at 8:30 p.m. Monday against Hillcrest Christian School at the Hillcrest Tournament.
