FAYETTE — Funeral services for Tommy James Vessel Sr., 86, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Fayette, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill No. 1 Baptist Church in Fayette.

Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Vessel was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Jefferson County, to Truly and Ruth Jones Vessel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine Vessel; six sisters, Mary Hall, Izora Synder, Essie Harris, Vera Jenkins, Bessie Carter and Beatrice Vessel; two brothers, James Vessel and Leroy Vessel.

Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Ann Hunter, Bertha Johnson and husband, Eddie Lee and Rose Culbert, all of Fayette, and Joan Williams and husband, Micheal, of Port Gibson; five sons, Tommy James Vessel Jr. of Gonzales, La., Robert Vessel and Sid Smith and wife, Loretta, both of Fayette, Micheal Vessel and wife, Ida Mae, of Port Gibson and Monroe Jackson and wife, Caroline, of Roxie; two sisters, Nellie Vessel and Maddie Hall; two brothers, Truly Vessel and wife, Everly and Rusevelt Vessel and wife, Alice; a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
