NATCHEZ — Funeral services for John Astor “Johnny” Dennis, 85, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Natchez Regional Medical Center will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill #1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe W. Pickett officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel in Natchez and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Dennis was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Woodville, to Emanuel Dennis and Elise Shropshire.

We was a member of the Deacon Progressive Club, Puritan, H.R. Bevel Lodge #3 F &AM P.H.A

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ira L. Dennis; grandson, Leon Howard III, three sisters, Virginia Harris, Queen McMorris and Phoebe Dennis.

Survivors include five children, Johnny Burns of Houston, Doris L. Dennis, Emanuel Dennis and wife, Karin, of St. Louis, John Dennis III and wife, Audrey, of Tacoma, Wash. and Jacquelin M. Dennis, of Natchez; one sister, Mary Mitchell; one brother, Pero Dennis and wife, Dorothy; two great grandchildren, Kamauri Dennis and Kadence Dennis; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
