WOODVILLE — Services for Samuel Melvin “Sam” Robertson, 80, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Newman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Burnett Carraway, Bro. Bernard Waites and Mr. A. J. Emfinger officiating.

Burial will follow at Will Floyd Cemetery, in Gloster, under the direction of Newman Funeral Home, Woodville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Robertson was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Greene County, the son of Samuel Chester Robertson and Annie Bell Helton Robertson. He was retired from International Paper Company after 35 years of service. He was also a U. S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. Robertson was a Baptist and a member of The Woodsmen of the World. He was also an avid fisherman and sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie Brewer; and a brother, Tom Robertson.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Floyd Robertson of Woodville; daughters, Brenda Davis of Crosby, Carolyn Davis and Judy McDowell, both of Natchez; a son, Samuel M. Robertson Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Woodville; sisters, Margaret Smith and Ann Eyrich, both of Natchez; brothers, Cecil Robertson of Zachary, Gavin C. “Snooks” Robertson of Crosby, Bobby Robertson of Purvis and David Robertson of State Line; grandchildren, P. J. Pevey, Kelly Olive, Tom Davis, Josh Robertson and Samantha Robertson; great-grandchildren, Will Olive, Peyton Olive and T.J. Davis; and numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be Tom Davis, Josh Robertson, Lane White, Pat Robertson, Gavin Robertson, Scott Olive, Kim Gonsoulin and Jerry Geter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
