NATCHEZ— Funeral services for Carl Denver Flowers Sr., 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 in Lewisville, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Flowers was born April 25, 1926, in Lucien, the son of Charlie Jefferson Flowers and Clara Myrtice Dow-Flowers.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Arena. He was a member of St. Mary Basilica, where he served as an usher and greeter. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Club and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Carl Denver Flowers Jr. and his two sons-in-law, Donnie Adams Sr. and Phil Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Catherine Genevieve Flowers; his daughters, Margaret Adams of Alexandria, Ind., Carla Lyden and husband, Jerry of Lewisville, Texas, Anne Staples of Haslett, Mich., and Mary Romero of Farmington, N.M.; nine grandchildren, Kristen Adams Halter and husband, Ernie of Nashville, Tenn., Donnie Adams Jr. of Alexandria, Ind., Karrie Staples of Madison Heights, Mich., Denver Hoggatt of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sean and Brendan Lyden of Lewisville, Elena, Eliza and Mia Romero of Farmington; two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Layla Halter of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Betty Besser of Boca Raton, Fla. and Clara Chadic of Jackson; one brother-in-law, Michael Fields; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Denver Hoggatt, Donnie Adams Jr., Sean Lyden, Brendan Lyden, Jerry Lyden and Johnny Hoggatt.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his brother-in-law, Michael Fields and his longtime friend, Bob Manning.
