WATERPROOF— Funeral services for Frances Virginia James, 73, of Waterproof, La., who died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Promise Specialty Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Foster and the Rev. Peggy Forman officiating.
Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ms. James was born on May 7, 1940, in Vicksburg, the daughter of John Francis Tillman and Virgie Smith Tillman.
She graduated from Waterproof High School and LSU with a B.A. in Business. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, DAR, St. Joseph Methodist Church, Panola Woods Country Club and Lake Bruin Country Club. She was also an avid bridge player, loved her house, yard and flowers. Frances had a hatred for armodillas. She loved to go to LSU games and eat at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Joe T. James of Waterproof; son, Jay James and wife, Roxanne of Waterproof; daughter, Julie Crigler and husband, Bill of St. Joseph, La.; brother, John Robert Tillman of Little Switzerland, N.C.; two grandsons, Jon- Truman James and James Ross Crigler; and granddaughter, Hannah James.
Pallbearers will be Bill Crigler, Jon- Truman James, John Francis Tillman, Bob Manning, Mark Miller, Don McGehee Jr., Roy James and Sonny Kifer.
The family requests that memorials be made to Tensas Academy in St. Joseph, La.
