FERRIDAY — Services for Howard Raymond Blount, 92, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Riverland Medical Center, in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday, with the Rev. Raymond Beard officiating.

Burial will follow at Monterey Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Blount was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Monterey, the son of John Howard and Phoebe Blount. He was a field agent for the Wildlife and Fisheries, retiring after 44 years of service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 158th Engineer Combat Battalion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Blount; his parents; and sisters, Clara Steel and Mary Rayburn.

Survivors include his daughters, Reva Benoit and Linda Cantu, both of Ferriday; son, Howard Blount and wife, Peggy, of Ferriday; sisters, Edna Morgan of Ferriday and Arleigh Reeves of Monterey; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John, Justin, Jeremy Benoit, Raymond Blount and Warren James.
