FERRIDAY– Funeral services for Lem Jones, 84, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rufus Baptist Church in Ferriday, with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ferriday cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones was born on Nov. 30, 1928, the son of Esau and Alice White Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Jones; and a number of siblings.
Survivors include four sons, Warren Washington of Baton Rouge, Glenn Henderson and wife, Sharon of Ferriday, Victor Henderson and wife, Janice of Arlington, Texas, and Warren Knight of Wichita Falls, Texas; four daughters, Bobbie Jean Ward and husband, Sidney of Chicago, Wendell Jefferson of Ferriday, Eileen Wallace and husband, Bradford of Killeen, Texas, and Jacquelyn Russ of Slidell, La.; one brother, the Rev. Richard Jones and wife, Oati of Houston; one sister, Earlean Harris of New Orleans; two children he raised as his own, Charles Washington and wife, Demetrius, Shandria Thomas and husband, Lavon, all of Baton Rouge; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
