NATCHEZ— Memorial services for Richard Marion “Bo” Truly Jr., 74, of Oxford, formally of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at his residence in Oxford, will at 4 p.m. Friday at Laird’s Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Truly was born on July 18, 1939, at his family home, The Darden Place, in Fayette, the son of Richard anad Jessie Porter Truly.

Richard served his country in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1966. He was a descendant of a family that has been prominent in the practice of law for five generations.

He was a youth court judge in Jefferson County as well as a practicing attorney in Adams and Jefferson counties for 46 years. He loved his family, legal career, Natchez and everything Ole Miss.

Richard was an avid supporter of Ole Miss athletics, particularly Ole Miss football. He was a very generous and a charitable man, who loved helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Jean Truly Sichi.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn June Truly; two daughters, Marilyn Truly West and Whitney Truly Clark and husband, Matt; three grandchildren, Abigail Clark, Madeline Clark, and Richard Eli West; and brother Jeff Porter Truly of Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Khayat of Oxford, Judge George Ward, Ronnie Harper, Frank Ernst, Charles Fairly Dawkins of Hattiesburg, Willie Pree of Fayette, Louie Brown, Warren “Bo” Ball of New Orleans, Charlie Ferrell of Little Rock, Rusty McPhate of Van Buren, Emile Guedon of Church Hill, Arch Geudon of Church Hill, Jeff Porter Truly of Jackson and Matt Clark of Oxford.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Trinty Episcopal School, where his grandson, Eli, attends.
